BookWire speaks with ...

Allen Marsh, editor of Journey Back to the Father's House

Neela Sakaria: Thank you for joining us once again. Please tell us how The Journey Back to the Father's House complements or completes God Formed Us For His Glory.

Allen Marsh: I would say that The Journey Back to the Father's House very much complements the previous book in our series, God Formed Us For His Glory. Whereas "God Formed Us…" is an in depth study of the inner true Self in all Its aspects, the next book," Journey Back…"picks up the theme of the inner Self realized. The Self expressed. What does it mean, the author asks, to let Christ live your life? Main themes in the previous book - living out from conscious oneness, healing and divine supply - are brought into closer focus in The Journey Back to the Father's House in a very satisfying way.

Neela: Can the two books be read independently, or are they considered part of a series?

AM: God Formed Us For His Glory and The Journey Back to the Father's House do stand alone and can be appreciated each as a whole. What is interesting, in reading these books are that the reader can sense that these writings were actual communications about important spiritual principles sent to a varied and wide-spread student body. And though there are themes that recur in each volume (meditation; healing; conscious oneness with God; attaining the Christ consciousness; world work; etc) each volume exudes a distinct tone unique to that year of study by the students which reflected the world situation of a given year and the depth of inner work the students were doing separately and as a whole group. The reader can feel that, as she or he continues through the each book, there is a sense of being included in that original audience of readers.

Neela: What new insights will readers find in this book?

AM: Many readers, who are drawn to this kind of book, are already exploring new insights that have come from their own search for truth. In elucidating age old principles in clear, profound, yet practical language, the writings become like a mirror to the reader's deeper awareness. Of particular relevance in The Journey Back to the Father's House are chapters on divine government. "What is our duty in regard to the present world crisis…?" the author asks. This section leads into a powerful chapter on the unconditioned Mind…… The last chapter of this volume is still revolutionary after these many years: Spiritual preparation for peace. Clear reading but hard reading.

Neela: Was creating this book more or less difficult than the first? How did the process compare? What was the greatest challenge?

AM: Each book has its special challenges - notably, how to treat words for the divine which in earlier years were over capitalized. We have worked to keep the text intact as the original editor Lorraine Sinkler presented it and sent it out as monthly Letters, and at the same time updated some of the old forms of "spiritual" writing to create a more contemporary flow and feel.

Neela: What sort of marketing efforts will you be planning for both books, in terms of trying to reach a broader audience?

AM: With the hiring of our publicist Carol Kraw, Acropolis has started a campaign based on creating a renaissance of the work of Joel S. Goldsmith. Goldsmith writings are now listed on several widely viewed websites. Ms. Kraw can tell you a bit more about our plans for the future:

Yes, right now I am initiating a multi level awareness campaign for the release of Journey Back to the Father's House. The internet which as you know is the major communications tool for this century will be our foundation for introducing this new book. We are actively becoming aligned with international speakers and filmmakers as well - we expect to utilize radio and television as well as following more traditional publicity routes of doing magazine articles and trade shows. Re-introducing this great mystic into today's world will be as exciting as it is timely.

Neela: Are you working on any future projects now?

AM: Yes! Not only are we finishing up with the publication of these eleven previously unpublished books in the next year and a half, Acropolis recently obtained the rights to several of Goldsmith's most popular titles and so are amplifying our publishing schedule. Key among these is The Mystical I and Our Spiritual Resources - two classics for the Joel Goldsmith student. Also another set of the earlier Letters which are among the most loved and studied of the Goldsmith books as they were written when the author was in a most fruitful and deep part of his work. - The 1955-59 Letters. These provide as clear a presentation of universal spiritual principles as can be found in the libraries and bookstores of the world.

Neela: Is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers?

AM: Yes, and thank you for the opportunity to have this conversation. Acropolis is very pleased with the response to our updated website: www.acropolisbooks.com as we have added features that give the visitor a better sense of the message of the Infinite Way™ such as a section on The Principles. A reader may visit the site and get a feel for the author and the books and tapes. Please visit! And thank you again for giving us the opportunity to talk about The Journey Back to the Father's House.
