Gianfranco Ravasi was born on October 18, 1942. He is an Italian prelate, an archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church. He currently serves in the Roman Curia as President of the Pontifical Council for Culture.
He was born in Merate, Province of Lecco. He attended the seminary of Milan, and was ordained by Cardinal Giovanni Colombo on June 28, 1966. He furthered his studies in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Pontifical Biblical Institute. (Bowker Author Biography)
