More DescriptionA Leap of Fate is about chances and choices, and their outcomes and repercussions. After all, what else is fate really? The story begins on the planet Caron; a world in the development era similar to the Roman days on Earth. The planet is much larger than Earth and has gravity to match, lending to its worth as an outpost for its space-faring rulers. Half of the lead protagonist is Kaskle Dangarth, an inhabitant of Caron. He has been fighting against the empirical rule of an alien culture; the Kreete, that has enslaved his people for the past 80 years and currently uses them as workers, pleasure toys, and combatants of their gladiator style sports. Due to Kaskle's innate physical abilities, he was once chosen to join the ranks of the rulers and so was schooled in the use of many of their advanced weapons, and even their flying crafts. But when he chose to defect, the masters decided to terminate him. There is an underground rebellion on the planet, with others who understand some of the Kreete's technology and they stumbled upon another advanced society who claimed to be able to help them against their masters. In a desperate attempt to evade the Kreete and join those beings, Kaskle is running from the most feared creature in the galaxy...a Redalien Tracker...an animal of unparalleled skills and viciousness. His final flight to safety is where the story begins, and unfortunately where his life ends as well. The other half of the lead character is an earthling named Ron Allison. He is an ordinary fellow with all the typical worries, hopes, and desires of any other man. After a terrific crash of the helicopter he was flying, he awakens to some startling changes to himself and his surroundings. He doesn't realize he is on a totally different world until much later, after struggling to keep his sanity intact and striking out to find help.Ron joins forces with the heroine of the story...Cache Kuar...when he finds her held captive by a scouting party of the Kreete. When they threaten to torture her Ron's newly acquired physical gifts kick into motion and he fights the band of aliens barehanded, right in front of her. Ron realizes rather abruptly, and unquestioningly, that he is no longer on Earth as he and Cache battle their way to her home, an underground fortress of super-advanced technology. There they find out that Ron isn't Ron anymore...that he has actually been combined with Kaskle during his transportation to their planet and is now a heavy-worlder being. Ron and Cache then embark on a crash course of preparations to get him confident enough to move forward while training him on the workings of an advanced spaceship...a fighter that has the ability to fend off the attacking Kreete armada. Ron finds out during that time that Cache is rather unique as well...a genetically engineered woman, one of extreme intelligence and designed to live on heavy-gravity worlds. They spend a great deal of time together and Cache falls desperately in love with him, but he forces himself to keep his own feelings under control because he is married on Earth. When the training time is cut short because of the ingenuity of the Kreete they're forced to travel overland to reach the complex where the ship is stored. And due to the incessant pressure of the invading ground troops they face hardship and pain through multiple battles before reaching the ship.Once aboard the Darlile they struggle to stop the massive Kreete juggernauts designed to decimate a world, and the war above Rauld is relentless and heart-pounding.
