Lydia, a born again Christian, has lost her husband. Raising her only child, Agopolis, Lydia strives to teach him right from wrong. But, Marcus, a playful, playboy tax-collector, is always hounding her since losing his wife to an illness. Lydia resists Marcus, who reads every writing he can to try and figure out why his wife had to die. He doesn't believe in any God. That is, until his son becomes deathly ill. The Roman gods and doctors can't help, so he turns to Lydia's God, Jesus....
