More DescriptionApologetics seeks to provide a rational justification for the truth claims of the Christian faith with a goal towards Christian conversion and intellectual confidence in the truth of the gospel. Apologetics is therefore important and integral to Christian faith and ministry, yet it can be approached in several ways. This book consists of two parts. The first part considers the importance of apologetics in light of the role of the Holy Spirit, examples of apologetics in the Bible, and apologetics being a biblical mandate. The second part of this book presents, analyzes and compares five scholarly approaches to apologetics in light of their explicit reliance on and usage of the Bible, their strategic methodology, and where they set the limit for apologetic accomplishment. The objective is not to favor any single approach to apologetics but to better enable the reader to understand where particular apologists stand, where to possibly categorize various apologetic arguments, and be better equipped to make up one's own mind as to which approach is most favorable. The appendices provide charts, summaries, and a contextual study on possible implications of apologetics in a Norwegian context.
