He also includes so-called "interchapters" on the relevant topics of the Hittites, Troy, the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia, the Crusades, south-central Turkey, pagan and Christian sites in western Turkey, military orders, southeastern Turkey, and the Kurds - all in relation to the history of castles in the country. The writer is the author of 54 published books, a retired professor of Linguistics and English at the University of Florida, and a resident teacher in three Middle Eastern countries: Turkey (2 years), Lebanon (1 year), and Saudi Arabia (2 years). One of his recent books is entitled "Antioch on the Orontes: An Illustrated History" (2013).
