More DescriptionIn this collection of intense poetry about the oppressed and forgotten, Stephanie Polito conjures up the desolate and desperate worlds of those whose voices have been silenced by violence, injustice, and poverty. By remembering real and fictional heroes such as Rita O¿Grady and Travis Bickle and tackling the difficult topics of human trafficking and gender inequality, this collection of twelve poems showcases the impact one person can make when he or she speaks up for the abused and takes action against a corrupt, outdated system. Collection of Poetry exposes the underworld of modern society in a charged poetic narrative that stirs emotion and enlightens the reader of these historic moments that helped define progress or demand its intervention.
