As John reflects on Derrick's life and the choices that led him away from the church and onto a path of sin, he begins to reminisce about his own challenges and joys including childhood bullying, adolescent angst, marriage, life in the church, and the important role the Bible played then and now in all his decisions. While attempting to make sense of his friend's untimely death, John soon discovers there is one thing he does not want to miss in life: his own salvation.
