More DescriptionEnglish summary: The widely read publications of the apologist and evangelist Francis A. Schaeffer (1912-1984) are known for their relentless and damning criticism of the theology of Karl Barth. This study presents and critically analyzes the theological foundations and convictions of Schaeffer's negative assessment of 'neo-orthodoxy'. To this end, the author examines in detail Schaeffer's theological biography and intellectual roots, which go back all the way to the fundamentalist debate in the United States in the early 20th century. Beyond this, the author provides a more in-depth description of the personal encounter between Schaeffer and Karl Barth in 1950 and their subsequent brief correspondence. In doing so, he analyzes the only official meeting between Karl Barth and representatives of Christian fundamentalism, thereby starting a dialogue between the 'fundamentalist' and the 'neo- orthodox' sides of the debate. -- Dr. theol. Peter Muller - Pfarrer in Unterkulm-CH
