The wilderness hero of the book, Phillip Weyman, agrees to help Josephine Adare, her family, and friends against the wiles and lechery of an outlaw gang. The moral code in the book is typical of Victorian fiction. The reading is often exciting; James Curwood is similar to Zane Grey and thus a good choice for libraries with Western novel readers.
