Jelani Faraja Kafela, now Bishop Kafela, whose name means "mighty hope for the future, for whom one has died" is the founding (July 1998) senior pastor of Imani Christian Cathedral and the Presiding Prelate of the Bridge Network Covenant Fellowship of Associated Churches and Independent Ministries. Bishop Kafela, a well-studied and passionate Shepherd is an author of three other prolific books 1) Laugh Out Loud in the Face of Your Swagga Jackers; 2) Pursuing the Mystery of Perfection: Growing in Grace and Knowledge; and 3) The Theology of Focus. He has written articles for two local newspapers; and for over a year, a weekly submission for his hometown newspaper. Bishop Kafela in partnership with Promise Christian University has established the Shelter T. White Institute of Biblical Study (SWIBS) a certificate program for ministers and lay leaders. With over 40 active ministries, 22 ordained ministers, 18 Deacons and Deaconess along with the Imani Economic and Community Development Corporation, whose Invisible Hands Food Ministry feeds hundreds in the community each month.
