More DescriptionThe story is based on the legend of Mary Virginia (Ginnie) Wade, the only civilian killed at the Battle of Gettysburg and the mysterious letter written to her by her fiancee, Jack Skelly who was mortally wounded at the Second Battle of Winchester. Before he died he sent his last letter to Ginnie by the hand of his childhood friend, Wesley Culp, who had chosen to fight for the south and found Jack among the wounded after the battle. Wesley brings the letter to Gettysburg but cannot deliver it because Ginnie's house is too close to the Union lines. Wesley Culp is killed fighting on Culp's hill, his uncle's farm, and Ginnie is killed by a Confederate sharpshooter on the last day of the battle. The letter is never delivered. Jack Skelly had died only a few days before. The mystery of the letter is finally solved during the 150th anniversary celebration of the Battle.
