More DescriptionBackground information about my book for parents, carers, teachers. The idea behind this children's story book is to help children, parents, carers and professionals working with young children understand the difficulties some children face. Children that have been adopted, neglected, have sensory difficulties or children with autism can face many challenges just doing every day things like trying something new, changing schools or meeting new people. When children or adults become afraid or anxious their brain returns to the reptilian part of the brain. The story is about a little girl that turns into a crocodile when she faces new challenges. Ideas such as giving children chewy foods can help regulate and calm their wellbeing.Carrying heavy things or covering them with a weighted blanket can make their proprioceptive system aware of where they are in the world so they feel grounded and safe. I hope this story will benefit many children who face enormous challenges and also make them laugh !
