Over the past five decades, I have been privileged to work with some of America's most exceptional men and women that were real game changers, self-starters, and TRUE LEADERS.During that time I learned two very important lessons. First, Followership is the most important prerequisite to becoming an effective leader. Second, to become absolutely essential to any organization, you must be perceived as a TRUE LEADER; someone who can be counted on to create the conditions for success, consistently produced excellent results, and to improve your team.In 2011, I was inspired to write The Leader's Guide because I wanted to pass on what I learned from them, many of whom are not here today to tell their story. So, before their lessons disappeared forever, I dedicated two years of my life documenting everything I learned from them. I wrote The Leader's Guide to further the cause of teaching good leadership, to pay tribute to the great men and women I willing followed, and to help others achieve their true potential.In 2013, I began writing this workbook (as a companion to The Leader's Guide), to help a Trainer create and teach effective Leadership and Followership. What you'll find in this workbook is what my TRUE LEADERS taught me over 50+ years in both the US Military (as a US Army Officer) and in Corporate America (as an Executive Coach). It is their good leadership I write about. The purpose of this workbook is to provide the Trainer with the tools needed to create and teach this performance based, Effective Leadership Course, using The Leader's Guide as the student text. What makes this book unique is that; * It teaches Followership, an important prerequisite to becoming an effective leader* The student must demonstrate proficiency with the lesson material by producing both written and verbal (oral) products (results)* Products are assessed by a Trainer every lesson* The student receives feedback for improvement every lesson* The emphasis is on improvement, not on grades* It offers real world solutions to the problems leaders and followers face every day* It offers practical tools that can be easily learned today and actually used tomorrowEach chapter stresses the importance and interrelationships between the 8 Core Competencies of Effective Leader; Planning, Organizing, Communicating, Operating, Problem Solving, Awareness, Motivating, and Character. The Student will also learn how each core competency contributes to effective leadership and followership by participating in student-led presentations and discussions in a group or classroom learning environment covering assigned readings of specific Learning Objectives from The Leader's Guide. This course has 37 Lessons (29 Regular Lessons from The Leader's Guide and 8 Practical Exercise Lessons).
