1984, The Cold War is thawing as the US and Russia prepare to sign arms reduction treaties, reduce nuclear stockpiles and attempt to enter a period of stability and détente in the world.Despite this, the US brings into service a new anti-submarine weapon: codenamed Neptune, it is based around a net of sensors on the seafloor co-ordinating with a curtain of satellites which between then can track and identify any submarine in any part of the world.
