From The Preface of The Sound ofThe Web
"When Automattic Joint (now,Automattic) first launched WordPress, their tagline read, "Makingthe web a more beautiful place." This floored me. It was frank and honest, but more importantly it was fresh. It was bold to put that on your company masthead: "beauty" first. It was Ezra Pound shouting "make it new!" And they had.
"In the online world, beauty, digitalgestures (smileys and thumbs-up), direct, honest responses are key and central to the social web, in building relationships and inextending our personal networks.
This is the point of my haiku: to connect the reader thru the social web to release an experience captured in nature: man via web meets nature. My haiku are socially mediate reflections, each recorded and then shared via Facebook and Twitter to my networks and the Internet as social objects that poke and nudge and stream down a mountain of newsfeeds to pool somewhere, one thousand miles away before your third eye.
"That is the sound of the web. Theimpact of sharing nature's beauty- and in making objects ofbeauty around which we gather, discuss, share and recreate thru the Internet- has brought and will continue to bring a profound change in this world.
"These are my contribution to it."
