More DescriptionPearline Johnson is a Dallas author and artist who is an inspiration to anyone who has dreams and is willing to be tenacious in their pursuit. Being a published author was one of her life goals. She realized that goal this year at eighty years of age in addition to showing her artwork that she created over the last five years. Born in the Oak Cliff neighborhood known as "The Bottom", Mrs. Johnson struggled to keep up in school due in large part to her chronic health problems. She loved reading and "making things" but never considered herself an artist. For years she quilted and crocheted beautiful coverlets, mostly for family and friends. A product of a close knit family, Pearline Johnson left Dallas only once and that was to be with her husband in Missouri. When her marriage ended she came back to Dallas where she attended El Centro College when she was in her 50s so she could secure a decent job. She began to write as a way of expressing her inner-most feelings about life and the hand it dealt her. The poems and short stories came in dreams, while watching television, and just about anytime she allowed herself to daydream.Mrs. Pearline Johnson entertains, inspires, and imparts her wisdom through poetry and short stories inspired by life experiences and Christian television. Though she achieved this goal in her "golden" years, she is determined to continue writing and creating to help others who may need to know that someone understands what they have been through and there is always a reason to be thankful.
