Deep Sea Creatures

Deep Sea Creatures
Jyoti Yelagalawadi

“Deep Sea Creatures”, written by Jyoti Yelagalawadi and illustrated by Harsha Nagaraju is the second book of a series, “Animal Alphabet”. Twenty-six uncommon deep-sea creatures, each starting from a different letter of the alphabet enthralls the young reader, as he looks at pictures that bring forth the beauties of the sea. It is a book that grows with a preschooler as he learns to recognize the alphabet, and then use the phonetic guide to pronounce difficult sounding names of deep-sea creatures. Older children learn about the different environmental features in the different zones of the sea. The awesome creatures that live in extreme conditions in different parts of the sea have been portrayed in simple English. A two-page spread discusses the zones in which the creatures live while an appendix gives their scientific names.

Anoplogaster cornuta, who differs a lot from his parent, Pompeii worm who holds the record for being the most heat tolerant creature in the world, and Thaumatichthys axeli who dangles a luminescent organ between its toothy jaws are just three of the twenty six interesting deep sea creatures depicted in this 32 page, full color hardcover picture book.
