Established in 1995 by Boston Book Review editor emeritus Lucinda Jewell to honor members of her family who have supported American literary and intellectual accomplishments, the awards are given for books of poetry and fiction published in the preceding year. There is no appplication process. The awards will given at the traditional dinner ceremony attended by winners, judges, and media held at Harvard's Upstairs at the Pudding on May 22nd, 1999.
