Begun in 1994 to recognize the finest of the year's literary offerings, the BBR Literary Awards have been judged in past years by novelists Thom Jones and Amy Bloom, poets Sharon Olds and Mark Doty, and authors Gerald Early and Sven Birkets.

    BBR Literary Awards Rules 2000

    Thank you for your interest in The Boston Book Review Literary Awards. The Boston Book Review Literary Awards in Poetry, Fiction, and Non-Fiction are given annually for books published in the preceeding calandar year. Recent judges have included Robert Pinsky, Jorie Graham, Orlando Patterson, Anne Beattie and Henry Louis Gates, Jr; winners have included Joyce Carol Oates, Mark Strand, Frank McCourt and Jamaica Kincaid. Nominations and final choices are made entirely by the judges; applications, submissions or recommendations to the editors at the Boston Book Review are not accepted. No submissions are necessary.
