March
is Women's History Month:
Celebrate Herstory
"Each time a girl opens a book and reads a woman- less history,
she learns she is worth less." -Myra Pollack Sadker
Women
have played an important role in history since the beginning of
time. Yet only recently has the emphasis been to recognize these
women and tell their story. In 1981, the U.S. Congress designated
the week of March 8 as National Women's History Week. In 1987 it
was expanded to include the entire month. This March, bookwire celebrates
Women's History Month by recognizing women- well- known and not
so well-known, in fields including science, politics, literature,
and broadcasting.
