Originally published in five parts between 1891 and 1908, this illustrated monograph on the British Cretaceous asteroids (starfishes) was overseen by Walter Percy Sladen (1849-1900) after Thomas Wright's death. When Sladen himself died, William Kingdon Spencer (1878-1955) completed it, expanding the scope to include the ophiuroids (brittle stars).
