Author Biography
Bernhard, Virginia (Author)
David Burner 1937-2010 David Burner was born in Cornwall, New York in 1937. He was a graduate of Hamilton College in 1958 and he received his Ph. D from Columbia University in 1965. He taught at Hunter College, Colby College, and Oakland University before joining the State University of New York at Stony Brook University's faculty. At the time of his death, he was a Professor Emeritus of History ay Stony Brook. He was working on completing a book about the American wars in Iraq and Afganistan on the day of his death, September 20, 2010.

In the 1970's Burner received a Guggenheim Fellowship and began to focus his historical writings on American presidents. His biography Herbert Hoover: A Public Life, had a major impact upon revitalizing the president's reputation.

Burner was also the founder of the Brandywine Press.
