More DescriptionIn 1992 I went to Guyana with the Sunrise Touring Cricket team to play several cricket matches in a two week time frame. During that tour we met the late President Cheddie Jagan in his Office. He was at the time the newly re-elected President of Guyana and the leader of the Peoples Progressive Party. This was a new beginning for Guyana after twenty eight years of Peoples National Congress governance, which saw many Guyanese leaving the shores of Guyana for better opportunities. President Cheddie Jagan welcomed us and during the course of the meeting, he said he was looking for re-migrants to return to help in developing Guyana. I never really gave it much thought at the time, but it was a seed which was planted in my mind, and Guyana was where I was born, and where I felt a connection with the environment, be it the tropical air, the tropical sun, the outdoors living and natural environment, but there was a connection.I had graduated from college in 1986 in the US with an Associates in Applied Science in Construction Technology, and then later in 1989 with a Bachelors in Professional Studies in Construction Management. In 1991 I earned my Private Pilot license to fly single engine land aircraft. I worked in the Engineering and Architecture industry from 1986 to 1994, when I decided that I needed an adventure, this book describes that adventure. It was in 1994 when the seed planted by President Cheddie Jagan took root and blossomed into the idea of returning and working in Guyana despite the challenges and low salaries. I applied to several companies, and the Guyana Sugar Corporation (Guysuco) responded with interest in acquiring someone with my skills to set up the Computer Aided Drafting Department (CADD) in the Factory Operations Projects section of Guysuco, and to train new users in a popular drafting software called AutoCad. I was highly experienced in Computer Aided Drafting and Design, and already had eight years experience using AutoCad in various companies. I took the job after the interview process and got the ball rolling on returning to Guyana after leaving as a fourteen year old in 1979.
