More Description"Confessions of an Ordinary Man: Living beyond Bullies" is a first-person examination of bullying, which for me took place in the 1970's and 80's. This book examines the long-term effects of the trauma of rape and the abuse of years long bullying can have. It is also the journey of my life, demonstrating the life-long effects, which years of bullying, abuse, and childhood humiliation can bring. I went from being the target of bullies to being a target of a sexual predator. I am an ordinary Everyman and my journey is not extraordinary because I did anything fantastic, it is because I survived it. My story is compelling because everyone has experienced middle school and can recognize or empathize with pain. While I had only a passing interest in the church, it was my discovery of faith that saved me from the depth of the dark spaces of childhood abuse and self-abuse of my adulthood. This story is the journey of my life from the devastation of my childhood through the neurosis of my early adulthood to my self-actuation and redemption. It shows how the temporary acts of bullying can have dramatic consequences for years after the torment ends. As well, it shows how apparent well-meaning church going people can cause pain and how an atheist could bring me back to my faith in God.
