December 1939Monrovia, CaliforniaGeorge Johnson was still reeling from the news that his older brother Harmon and sister-in-law, Zelda had been brutally murdered in Alaska. As far as he knew, they hadn't found a Last Will and Testament. Recently unemployed, George wasn't able to finance the trip to Alaska. Shortly after the murders he sent a letter in to the U.S Attorney in Alaska. He advised him that Harmon's estate should be divided evenly between Harmon's three siblings and he would be the contact person for the family. However, George learns that his ex-con brother, Ron, had no intention of sharing the estate. Ron was currently in Alaska, on the pretense of getting information for the family. However, he used this opportunity to convince the U.S. Attorney to give him access to funds from the estate to work Harmon's mining sites. If Ron wanted to work the mining site, he guessed that there was still gold to be found. George had to get to Alaska, even If he had to borrow the money. He would have to leave his wife and two daughters with family for several months, but the inheritance could give them a new start.
