English summary: Talk of the narcissism of the authors or their protagonists in European decadence literature is commonplace amongst researchers. With its exact reading of selected key texts of German decadence writing, this study provides a new form of interpretation. Contrary to a psychoanalytic interpretation, this approach, based on the science of poetry, links the problems of adolescence, one of the major topics at the turn of the century, to the problematization of self-reflection in the literary texts. The image of the narcissistic youth reveals a melancholic and/or ironic characteristic of the German contribution to the European 'fin de siecle'. German description: Die Rede vom Narzissmus der Autoren bzw. der von ihnen gestalteten Hauptfiguren der europaischen Dekadenz-Literatur ist ein Gemeinplatz in der Forschung. Mit der genauen Lekture einiger Schlusseltexte der deutschsprachigen Dekadenz-Dichtung bietet die Arbeit eine neue Lesart an. Durch die Neuerzahlung der Narziss-Geschichte und besonders durch die Gestaltung einer krisenhaften Jugend artikuliert sich bei Leopold von Andrian, Hugo von Hofmannsthal und Thomas Mann eher eine textinterne (selbst-)kritische Reflexion uber die alternative Phantasmagorie der asthetizistischen Dekadenz. Entgegen einer psychoanalytischen Deutung bezieht die poetologische Untersuchung die problematische Adoleszenz, eines der Hauptthemen der Jahrhundertwende, auf die problematisierende Selbstbespiegelung der literarischen Texte. Im Bild der Narziss-Jugend wird ein jeweils mit Melancholie und/oder Ironie gekennzeichnetes Signum der deutschsprachigen Beitrage zum europaischen 'Fin de siecle' sichtbar.
