Carter, Nick (Author)
Nickolas Gene "Nick" Carter was born on January 28, 1980. Carter was born in Jamestown, New York. He is an American singer, songwriter and entertainer who is best known for being a member of the "boy band" known as the Backstreet Boys. He and the rest of the group were in the limelight in the late 1990s and early 2000s as teen idols. The other members of the group included Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough.

carter encountered struggles with drugs and alcohol abuse. Once he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, he made major lifestyle changes. Carter wrote an autobiography entitled, Facing the Music and Living to talk About it in 2013, dealing with the struggles he went through.

Carter was announced as the new United nations Special Ambassador for the Year of the Dolphin (YoD) on May 17, 2007 representing the United Nations Environment Programme, the Convention on Migratory Species, and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. He has stated that he has a passion for the environment and its oceans. He has worked with the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and the Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN). He also has lobbied for these causes at Capitol Hill.
