This guide is designed to help people who work with rescued animals to successfully transition them into forever homes. Over the past decade the author has helped hundreds of animals, primarily dogs, recover from trauma, learn new behaviors, and become forever companions. Through this experience, many lessons were learned and best practices recognized. Much coaching was done with foster homes and adopters helping animals successfully transition. Recognizing the need for a comprehensive and reliable resource, the guide was compiled for one purpose: to help people to help animals! This "must have" resource describes ways to assess your abilities, choose a rescue group, situations you might encounter, and benchmark progress monitoring. It provides many helpful tips, and specifically addresses rehabilitation of puppy mill dogs. It is helpful for people working with home based-rescues or adopting a rescued animal.
