The story begins with her life in a small mountain top town called Everet where she learns about natural foods and eating healthy from a local farmers market. After her mother passes on from a life threatening illness, she is forced to go and live with her Aunt on the Big Island of Hawaii. Hawaii proves to be full of big adventures, enormous talking bugs and something she never thought she would find again, family. Kupuna means ancestor in Hawaiian and little did Eva know that by taking that fateful plane ride to Hawaii, she would find many generations of family she never knew existed. And she would find something else, a secret gift passed down from her great great grandfather, one that would change her life forever, and allow her to save her grandmother, and possibly save the future from starvation.
