More DescriptionThis series of nutrition lessons was written for homeschoolers and their families, and is adaptable to multiple age levels. Written from a perspective of integrative nutrition, the material covered includes organic foods, genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), and artificial sweeteners like Splenda, aspartame, and High Fructose Corn Syrup. Also included are nutrition lessons about grass-fed and pastured meats, eggs, and dairy products, as well as organic and local produce, and sustainable farming practices. The lessons are presented in the context of teaching children that food does not just come from the grocery store, and how food is produced greatly impacts its nutritional value. The lessons include written exercises to reinforce the material and to provide a record of children's learning. Much of the material can be presented to the entire family at once, and discussion topics are suggested for family participation. Hands-on activities and didactic learning are included in each chapter. The lessons can be adapted for use within co-op settings or used by individual families at home, and are written to appeal to a wide range of learning styles.Nutrition For Healthy Kids is a flexible nutrition curriculum currently being used by homeschoolers across the country and even internationally. It has been successfully taught in homeschool co-ops as well. Find more information at www.nutritionforhealthykids.com.
