More DescriptionThe word "orthoptist" comes from the Greek, "ortho" meaning straight and "optikas" meaning vision. An Orthoptist works in the NHS and specializes in diagnosing and treating vision problems involving the alignment or movements of the eyes; for example, squint or double vision. The workings of eyes and vision are never considered by the average person until some insult interrupts their normal function. Even then and despite the professionals' laboured explanations and information leaflets, people still have their individual interpretation of the function and malfunction of their optics. This has always been a secret delight to me, confirming the fact that the universe that we as individuals inhabit is unique and created entirely in our own mind's eye. This book is an eccentric view of the field of vision we call Orthoptics, experienced by an Orthoptist and inspired by people. I enjoy people, especially the tiny ones and their singular interpretation of a complicated world. The invented bits are mostly true.
