Most, in fact, just seemed anxious to complete the mission and return to the runabout. And so, she gave the order to proceed. A moment later, they telejumped together past the airlock into a dimly lit tunnel. Though they immediately cloaked themselves, it was already too late: They had tripped a silent alarm....

The centurion was disappointed that none of her subordinates said anything. In fact, it seemed they failed to react at all. But, at least, she did not sense much fear in them. Most, in fact, just seemed anxious to complete the mission and return to the runabout. And so, she gave the order to proceed. A moment later, they telejumped together past the airlock into a dimly lit tunnel. Though they immediately cloaked themselves, it was already too late: They had tripped a silent alarm. Their solution was to rush down the tunnel a few hundred paces then veer to the right into a side-tunnel. Racing a half-mile or so into such, they then plunged down a shaft. Formerly employed for ventilation, such was somewhat narrow. Even so, the centurion and her subordinates descended rather rapidly through it for well over a hundred stories. Then, just before exiting from such, they realized that several dwarf warobots were chasing them.
