More DescriptionAfter surviving against PASTOR's trained shifter, Father Caesar Leodenin, and Lord Alain's army of vampires, Madelin Boatweit and her friends seek shelter on a world where El Paso, Texas, is in ruins. Its skyscrapers are skeletons of their former selves. However, Leodenin's newfound people will soon be on the hunt once more.
Roger Talbut, the Cajun gambler from New Orleans, survived the previous encounter but has become what they are struggling against. With the help of Juno Paria, a rebel vampire from the royal Traditorian line, a computer programmer named Jedd Altran, and an ex-mercenary in search of redemption, Madelin's group must flee the collapsing skyscrapers, daylight, and a powerful false father.
Set on saving those they left behind, Madelin needs to reunite her friends and save other innocents like herself. Eventually the fight must be brought to the doorstep of PASTOR Agency, the black-ops department responsible for mass murder and kidnapping. Countless children remain captive--lab rats to be studied and potential soldiers in PASTOR's pursuit to control parallel worlds. Such atrocities cannot continue. At some point even the mouse must turn and fight.
In the midst of it all, mistakes are made, the laws of nature broken, people murdered, and entire civilizations left in waste, but who is at fault? And can our heroes struggling for redemption, justice, and revenge live with the consequences of their actions?
