More DescriptionA color illustrated collection of humorous stories for adults, children, and animal lovers of all ages. Designed originally as read-aloud, stand-alone stories, the collection takes the reader through the daily antics, adventures, and concerns of Wisdom and Folly, two aptly named cats. Wisdom and Folly live with a fun-loving and eccentric old woman, whose active lifestyle provides ample opportunities for cat adventure. From everyday gardening activity to holiday parties, the old woman's home is alive with homespun activities, and Folly and Wisdom are always at the center of the action.
As Folly is inclined toward a spontaneous and risky approach to life, it falls to Wisdom to take care of the younger cat, to steer Folly from harm, and to continually warn him of danger. In this very loving household, the old woman and Wisdom repeatedly forgive Folly's misdeeds, accidents, and catastrophes. Unconditional love is the fall back for this small family and their quaint community. Subtle but rich life lessons and moral values emerge from each story.
Adventures include house flooding, lizard snatching, chicken chasing, and birthday blowouts. Holiday story titles include Easter: "The Great Dye Spill"; Fourth of July: "Feathers in the Ice Cream"; "Halloween Hats and Magickal Cats"; and "Christmas Mystery." The book has over forty color illustrations by the author.
