There are circumstances where the only way to do the right thing is to do it subversively. My medical practice was done in the most difficult places on earth. As a member of a subversive humanitarian medical organization, I worked in Biafra in the late sixties. After that, I attended children and adults in many places where wars, starvation and neglected diseases played too hard. I lived and worked in places where I saw all forms of human cruelties and injustices. Places where man¿s will, not God¿s, decided to send angels to heaven. My name is John Kergard. I am a pediatrician specialized in pediatric surgery and this book is my story. But this is also the story of my patients and my colleagues. Colleagues whom I had the honor and the privilege of have served with in the field. Our weapons? Well, we only had our extraordinary medical skills and our total commitment to the medical Code of Ethics. But, there is something else about us. Something that I consider very important to tell you. Beyond Doctors, we were also part of what is known as `The Generation of 1968,¿ the generation that definitely shook the political and social structures of the world.
