The virtue of humility becomes the central theme of the story during the course of Mildew's attempt to rescue Soapy. The illustrations to the book are both fitting and indelible in how they portray the characters and the ending really leaves you with a cliffhanger while allowing the impressionable mind of a child to imagine the fate of the main characters. The illustrations were created by cartoonist, Nicholas Voshall.
