It's a story about one craftsman's efforts as he works to restore a cedar shake roof on a building at the Rochester Folk Art Guild in Middlesex, NY.For over thirty years the building's original roof had withstood the cold snowy winds and ice of the long winter seasons and had endured the rain and heat which come with the spring and summer months. After serving the house so well over the years, it was serving as a home to quite a few families of ants and bees. The original roof was worn out and needed to be replaced. To transform the individual cedar shakes into a new roof with the harmony and form of the original, a true craftsman was needed; someone who loved working with the same spirit and attention to detail which was there when the roof was first built.This is the story in pictures of what it means to work in a way which makes it possible to do something extraordinary.
