Ron travels to Earth on a mission to try and explain what happened to him on that fate-filled day out on the Gulf of Mexico, more than two years in the past. However, once he gets there he finds that nothing he could have imagined could prepare him for what he finds...and doesn't find. His sense of duty and responsibility lands him in one pickle after another until he has to make a hasty escape to keep his freedom. While running from the authorities, Ron keeps searching for his loved ones, even when he faces danger, deceit, and a couple of well-planned ambushes.At the final moment, when his most ardent quest is merely steps away from completion, Ron is forcibly abducted and whisked away to an unknown fate. He soon finds out that there is far more going on than he'd ever expected and that, once more, he is immersed in a battle for planetary dominance. He must then figure out who the players are, escape his captors, and then turn the tables on them.When contact with Ron and her warship (the Darlile) is lost, Cache Kuar races into the fray in an attempt to prepare Earth's leaders and their peoples for a war with a truly dominant species. She uses her cunning and brilliance to forge a worldwide alliance to repel the invaders in a fight she is certain they will lose. In a desperate move to regain her ship, Cache eventually charges into the fray and fights her way through the aerial hell, only to fall short of her goal.As usual however, Ron manages to battle his way back to her side, and with some insanely dangerous maneuvers, retakes control of the unstoppable Darlile. From there, he and his partner eliminate the threat and begin restoring and rebuilding the planet.
