More Description
This edited collection of essays from many the world’s preeminent drama in education practitioners captures the challenges and struggles of teaching through drama with honesty, humor, openness, and integrity. The authors represent some two hundred years of collected experience in the field and each essay shares this through unpacking the mistakes of best-intentions, lack of awareness and omissions that pock all of our careers. Each author could easily write victory accounts of their work, but another useful endeavour is to analyse our past practice-changing mistakes that shaped our current thinking about our work.
It is the belief of the contributors that we can best ignite the practice of readers by critically unpacking the mistakes we’ve made. The book sets out to answer, quite honestly, what were we thinking? Where did our assumptions come from? What prevented us from foreseeing the consequences of our choices? What obscured our understanding of our students’ needs in a particular moment? What drove our professional expectations? And how has our practice changed as a result of those experiences?
