Laura Poitras was born in Boston, Massaschusetts, on February 2, 1964. She is an American director and producer of documentary films. She has direct several award winning documentaries, including: My Country, My Country, about the U.S. occupation of Iraq, was nominated for an Academy Award. The Oath, focused on Guantanamo and the war on terror, and was nominated for two Emmy awards, and Citizenfour, which won an Academy Award for Best Documentary.
