More DescriptionThis is the first Volume in the Old Gold Series. A Trilogy of future century Romantic--Mystery-Adventures: Bare Mountain Gold (21st), Colonel Sue Dawn Patrol (22nd), and Little Queen Ann (23rd)Late in May, early in the 21st Century, Elizabeth Abbott, an actress, turned film director goes to the Brooks Range in Alaska. She plans to film an Romantic Adventure movie on-location. Her script is based on family letters and other old records about a gold mine started in 1898.Friendship and romance involves several people in the affairs of the Bear Rock Mine as it was called in 1898 and 1899. All of the several available diaries were very detailed and informative, until early in 1900. Some of the last entries in a few of the diaries provided Laura with a mystery involving an increase in the quantity, nugget size, and purity of the gold found in the newest, deepest tunnels. Each diary ended with a statement that Uncle Mac had to stop further tunneling when the increasingly rich vein of gold bearing ore he had been following had ended against an imperviously hard flat black rock. He said, "It was as if it had been cut off by a giant, very-sharp-knife." The explanation was a massive movement of the mountain caused by an earthquake. This mystery of finding the gold adds to the miners' adventures and to Elizabeth's problems with her backers, actors, gold thieves, invaders killers and her adored "pseudo" daughter, Sophie.Their "Gold Kingdom" becomes involved in a Space Attack and Invasion. Chapter Thirty-Two, SPACE WAR, Space Shoot Out"Colonel Dianne felt almost eager. The outer Space Lock door opened. She had a safety tether fastened to the back of her bulky outfit. She pushed off for a slow 20 foot "Space-Walk" trip through the near vacuum of Space. She did not want to jar the ASM. She landed on it where she wanted to be. Where the old fighter fuselage was like a horse's saddle blanket on the missile's back."
