A madcap dash across the country in search of their next game...and next meal.
From the series American Flim-Flam, former 19th century baseball star Flynt Doyle, banned from the sport for habitual drunkenness, receives one last chance to stay in the game-by managing the Baltimore Federals. But he soon discovers his new club is designed to lose, a miserable ensemble that can't win a single game, boasting a gawky, wild-throwing bumpkin for a pitcher, a teenaged drifter with a lively bat and a chip on his shoulder, a slow-footed, lumpish center fielder with a distaste for physical exertion and a Bible-spouting, geriatric catcher. When they are locked out of their own ballpark, Doyle drags the team on a cross-country barnstorming trek, playing pick-up games, hoping to pull it all together before the coveted baseball tournament in Kansas City. Along the way they run into eccentric characters including an inept train robber, a shady riverboat captain, Wild Bill Cody and a hodgepodge of hooligans, ruffians and rascals. Barnstormin' is a funny, farcical weave of buffoonery, unending calamities and redemption.
American Flim-Flam plays fast and loose with our nation's past, offering a fresh and oftentimes satirical take on the paragons of our country's popular culture, including our national pastime, baseball. You'll encounter dozens of oddball characters and find yourself engrossed in outlandish situations as we look to lampoon our over-glorified heritage. The series, including Big League Balderdash, Bad Luck Don't Rest and Effervescent Elixirol proves you can rewrite history-and have a ripping good time doing it.
