Noela Young was born in Australia in 1930. After graduating with the College Medal for the Highest Honours in Illustration in 1951, she became a freelance illustrator. Before she started illustrating books, she created decorative headings for The Fruit and Vegetable News, did greeting card illustration, and was an illustrator for The School Magazine. She illustrated over 70 books including the Muddle-Headed Wombat series by Ruth Park, Grandpa by Lilith Norman, and Something Special and Pigs Might Fly by Emily Rodda. She died in 2018 at the age of 88.
