Core of the thesis is a qualitative empirical study based on the generation of seven case studies, which analyses how the financing of family firms with privately placed debt displays. Focus is on the financing backgrounds, the motivation, prerequisites, challenges, influences by the shareholding families and the consequences. These findings lead to the gathering of conclusions about the financing characteristics of family firms. It shows that - due to its characteristics - privately placed debt complies with the peculiarities of family firms. Marius Renner untersucht privat platziertes Fremdkapital im Kontext der Finanzierung von Familienunternehmen. Kernstuck seiner qualitativ-empirischen Studie sind sieben Fallstudien, in denen insbesondere die Hintergrunde einer Finanzierung, ihre Motivation, die Voraussetzungen und Herausforderungen, die Einflusse der Gesellschafterfamilien sowie die Folgen dieser Einflussnahme analysiert werden. Aus den gewonnenen Erkenntnissen zieht die Untersuchung Ruckschlusse auf die Finanzierungscharakteristika von Familienunternehmen.
