More Description“Fish & Fashion” is an action- and adventure-packed autobiography book filled with true stories of exciting, real-life experiences in both the international fishing and fashion industries. “Fish & Fashion” is a story that encompasses Asian-American history, spiritual encounter, modern-day pirates and numerous high-profile celebrities. My name is Mari L. Kimura, and I am a second generation Japanese American woman residing in Los Angeles, California. If I were to describe myself in one sentence, I would say, “I have Japanese blood, an American mentality and a Latin heart.” I recently wrote my first book, an autobiography titled “Fish & Fashion.” It chronicles my life and contains many interesting true stories that reflect my work in the fish and fashion industries. Although I am not well-known, my art has been viewed by millions. The book begins when my father immigrated to America and explains how he invented the famous sushi dish known as the “California Roll” back in the 1950s, the mysterious history of which has never before been revealed. There is also the story of my growing up and encountering a young Bill Gates and his associates, as they struggled during their negotiations with IBM, when my father shared his Los Angeles office in the 1970s with Microsoft before it became the world’s leading software manufacturer. Also, in the ’70s, I worked in the fishing industry, during which time I encountered modern-day Japanese pirates and dangerous situations related to my work. In the 1980s, I changed careers and became an artist. I was a successful Hollywood fashion and costume designer and image stylist. During this time, I met and dealt with many celebrities, some of whom were not yet as famous (or infamous) as they are now. “Fish & Fashion” features stories about my encounters with famous celebrities such as: Donny Osmond and the Osmond Family, “king of pop” Michael Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, Alyssa Milano, Barry Manilow, David Foster, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The book’s closing story ends with a divine spiritual calling which took place at the Basilica de Guadalupe in Mexico City, in September of 1990. Kimura is not Catholic, but she is spiritual and clairvoyant. This is an inspirational story for all Catholics and spiritual people from all corners of the world.
