Gretchen Carlson is an American journalist and writer, born in Minnesota in 1966. She is a graduate of Stanford University, studying organizational behavior. During that time, she studied at Oxford University for a year. In 1989 she was crowned Miss America.
Her television career includes political reporter in Richmond, Virginia, anchor and reporter in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Dallas. Nationally, she has been a CBS News correspondent, covering national and international stories. She reported and produced, an award-winning, 30-part series on domestic violence. From 2005-2016, she worked for Fox News Channel. She worked as news anchor for Fox News, co-host of the morning show, Fox and Friends, and host of The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson. In 2016 she filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes.
She was recently honored as one of Time's 100 Most Influential People in the World and is a tireless advocate for female empowerment.
She is the author of Getting Real, published in 2015. Her second book, Be Fierce, was published in 2017.
