The definition of biblical manhood has been diluted by current American culture. Some men believe their testosterone levels, the size of their bank accounts, or the length of their résumés define their manhood. Some men believe they must surrender their hopes, dreams, personalities, and masculinity at the door of the church. More Description The definition of biblical manhood has been diluted by current American culture. Some men believe their testosterone levels, the size of their bank accounts, or the length of their résumés define their manhood. Some men believe they must surrender their hopes, dreams, personalities, and masculinity at the door of the church. Other men believe that, simply because they were born males, they have a God-given right to bully, intimidate, demand, and dominate.
These are lies. Thankfully, God offers the truth.
If you ever desire to become a better son, brother, friend, husband, or father, then a re-examination of God’s definition of manhood is absolutely vital. Through the Bible, God reveals that certain characteristics must come in pairs. In order to become a man of God (or a woman of God), these characteristics must balance each other out: identity must be attached to integrity … strength must be balanced by wisdom … humility becomes weakness, unless followed by a willingness to learn from mistakes … and both honor and protection must walk hand in hand. The presence and balance of these pairs of characteristics constitute both biblical manhood and womanhood.
Do these characteristics play an inseparable role in your life? If you aren’t sure, then it is time to find those characteristics … time to reclaim your purpose … time to listen to God’s definition of manhood and womanhood.
It’s time to grow a pair.
