More DescriptionJohn Linton, Stowaway from Liverpool is a biographical novel about my great grandfather who in 1855 stowed away on a ship from Liverpool, England heading for America at twenty years of age. He was looking for adventure but little did he know the adventure he was about to have. His first adventure was battling a severe storm in the Atlantic . Then a few years after his arrival the Great American Civil War began. Because of his admiration for Lincoln he joined the Indiana Volunteers but deserted after a year and joined the Illinois Volunteers. He fought for four years in this greatest American war ever. He was captured by the Confederate Army twice and wounded twice. After surviving the war he married a full blooded Muscogee Creek Indian by the name of Halona Hokte who changed her name to Mary Jane Smith. Together they raised seven children one of whom was my grandfather, Charles Linton. John Linton, Stowaway from Liverpool will thrill you from cover to cover and is illustrated with real Civil War handwritten documents to authenticate the story. You won't want to put this book down. It is written by H. Edward Mitchell, author of four other adventure books all available on Amazon.
