More DescriptionThe eighty-three photographs in this book start after the Royal Gorge Fire in June 2013 and continue into the spring of 2015. The wildfire, which took five days to contain, left behind 3,218 acres of burned juniper and pine forest. The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, a popular Colorado tourist attraction, lost 48 of 52 structures. The famous bridge stood majestically over the rubble with only 100 of 1,200 wooden planks charred from the fire. With all barriers gone and the rubble removed, award-winning author and photographer, Eve Nagode, began to capture new incredibly beautiful views of the bridge and surrounding landscape. Many of these images were taken during reconstruction when the park was closed to the public. The rare night sky images were taken in the summer of 2014 when the park had no electricity.
